Unfiled Back Tax Returns
Do you have unfiled tax returns or missing documents needed to complete them? I have the experience and proven procedures to help you reconstruct the necessary records and get your returns filed accurately.
Please note that the IRS will not allow an Offer in Compromise or approve an installment agreement unless all past-due returns are filed. Additionally, if you are owed a refund but file more than three years past the original due date, the IRS will keep the refund.
It’s important to become compliant as soon as possible—and I can prepare and file your past-due returns for you.
Offer in Compromise
Some taxpayers may qualify to settle their IRS debt for significantly less than the amount owed through an Offer in Compromise. There are three primary grounds for filing:
Doubt as to Liability: You believe the IRS assessment is incorrect and that the IRS will have difficulty proving the liability.
Doubt as to Collectibility: Based on your current financial situation, you are unable to pay the full tax debt. Most offers fall into this category.
Effective Tax Administration: Paying the liability in full would create an undue hardship.
Not everyone qualifies, and submitting an offer when you do not meet the criteria can waste time and money. I will thoroughly review the facts of your case and provide a realistic assessment of your chances for approval.
Installment Agreements
If you owe the IRS but do not have the funds to pay in full—and do not qualify for an Offer in Compromise—an installment agreement may be the best solution.
I can negotiate a payment plan that is manageable based on your financial situation, including the possibility of a zero-dollar installment agreement if you have no ability to pay. To maintain the agreement, you must stay compliant with all future tax filings. I will work directly with the IRS to secure a payment arrangement that works for you.
Levies on Wages or Bank Accounts
The IRS can issue a levy to your employer or bank, requiring them to send your funds directly to the IRS. Levies typically occur when communication with the IRS has broken down.
I understand how critical your paycheck is to you and your family. Once retained, I immediately contact the IRS to begin negotiations. In most cases, I can have the levy released before any wages are lost.
Liens
Federal tax liens are public records filed in your county and can significantly impact your credit, making it difficult or even impossible to secure financing for major purchases such as a home or vehicle.
Liens must be carefully reviewed to determine their validity, and if they are valid, a strategic plan must be implemented to address the underlying tax liabilities. I will guide you through the best options based on your circumstances.
Penalty Relief
You may be eligible for penalty relief if you attempted to comply with tax laws but were unable to due to circumstances beyond your control. Upon engagement, I will request penalty abatement on your behalf and work to reduce unnecessary penalties from your balance.
Amended Tax Returns
If you discover an error on your current or previous two years’ tax returns, I can prepare and file the appropriate amended return (Form 1040X) to correct the issue and ensure your filings are accurate.
